Milling #1:
- Square Edged:
- in un-finished, the flooring is supplied
tongue and grooved all 4 sides with square edges and ends. This
flooring once installed is then sanded & finished on-site.
- in pre-finished, the flooring is first milled
tongue and grooved all 4 sides and is then pre-finished. During
this process, while sanding between coats of pre-finish, it
imparts an ever so slight ease to the edges and ends of the
flooring. It is considered square edged as no bevel or rounding
has been machined into the flooring.
- True Square:
- is flooring which is pre-finished first and
then milled tongue and groove after finishing, yielding a
true square edge.
- Micro-Eased:
- is flooring which, when tongue and grooved, is
machined with a small micro- bevel along the edges. In random
length offerings the flooring is Micro-Eased along the edges but
is supplied Square Edged on the ends. In Micro-Eased Herringbone
offerings the flooring is supplied Micro-Eased along the edges
and ends.
- Ultra MicroEased:
- is flooring which, when tongue and grooved, is
machined with a very small micro-bevel along the edges. It is
supplied square edged on the ends.
Use #2:
- Res. = Residential - all our flooring may be used
residentially
- Com. = Commercial - for light commercial use you
may follow the charts' allowed usage noting that it is always best
to choose the harder species in order to avoid "heel
denting". For heavier commercial use please use the denser
species and contact us with regards to select the best choice in
finishes.
Wear Layer #3: -
(Note: Thickness is in millimeters with 3.2mm equal to approximately
1/8")
- S = Solid Wood (3/4"
thick above the tongue is typically 7 - 8mm in 3/8": it is
typically 4mm approx.)
- SW = Sawn Wood (as opposed to sliced or
peeled veneer)
- SL = Sliced Veneer (sliced so that it looks
like solid wood)
- RP = Rotary Peeled Veneer (has more flat
grain look than sliced veneer)
