Description:

Brushbox is a very lustrous wood with a fair amount of understated flame/curl figure present.  There are two main specie groups being sold.  The first is commonly sold under the Brushbox name and is the group of species found in the more temperate areas of Australia.  Its coloration tends to be in the grey/brown range with a high degree of color variation. The other grouping of Tristania species, are found in more tropical areas and typically sold under the Northern Brushbox name.  Their coloration is a more uniform dark brown than the Southern Brushbox.  WFI only offers the Northern Brushbox grouping.

Color Range & Color Change:

Color Range: In Northern Brushbox, one finds a medium range of color variability in the species which varies between lighter reddish browns to darker coppery browns. 

Color Change: In Northern Brushbox there will be a slight muting of color variation and also a slight reddening of the floor over time.

Northern Brushbox is 162% harder than red oak (2045 on the Janka scale vs. 1260 for red oak).
